HCMC Alliance understands that getting outside of our usual environment is crucial. Ecotherapy has become a prevailing method in improving mental and physical health, while building a better relationship with ourselves and nature. Nature restores focus, relaxes thought patterns, releases endorphins and captures the imagination with new sights, textures, sounds and smells.
Our outdoors program utilizes many of British Columbia’s scenic locations to create opportunities for young people to get out of the city and experience the open air. Studies show that nature walks are linked to enhanced mental health and positivity, significantly lowering levels of depression and feelings of stress. They also have great restorative effects on attention levels.
